Sporting a slick new lid and many updated amenities, BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, begins a whole new life on September 30, 2011. The 60,000-seat multiuse stadium re-opens after undergoing a massive renovation which included the replacement of its air-supported, fabric roof with a cable-supported, retractable roof - the world's largest of its kind. Originally built in 1983, the stadium closed in April 2010, soon after hosting ceremonies for the Vancouver Winter Olympics, to begin the renovation. ADG provided acoustics and noise control, and designed a completely new sound system throughout the facility including suites, gates, concourses, and the seating bowl.
Acoustical Design Group is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members.
Dan Keller joins the firm as an audiovisual systems designer. Dan served as an intern at ADG for three summers and recently graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. He designs sound and audiovisual systems for the firm's education, sports, and office projects. Dan is a LEED® Green Associate and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).
Brian Boley has joined ADG as the Senior CAD Manager. Brian has a B.S. in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology from the University of Central Missouri. Before coming to ADG, he was an application engineer and security technician with design experience in HVAC systems, security and closed circuit television systems, and temperature control systems. Brian is trained in a number of design and drafting computer applications and, along with managing the CAD department, will support ADG's acoustical, audiovisual and sound system projects

The School of Leadership Studies Building at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, has been recognized as achieving LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The facility is the first Kansas Regents building to be Gold-certified.
The key sustainable features of the building include reduced water use, increased energy savings over standards on heating and cooling, and the use of recycled material throughout the building. Other features of the building promote the use of alternative forms of transportation and include a recycling program for plastic, aluminum, and paper.
The Leadership Studies Building was also named Project of the Year by the Design-Build Institute of America's Mid-America Region. Designed and built by The Opus Group of Kansas City, Missouri, the 36,000 square foot building was completed in December 2009. The design-build project delivery method involves a collaborative approach from the start between owner, architects, engineers and contractors. The joint decision-making process can save time and money as all parties work together through each stage of the project to create a satisfying solution.
Acoustical Design Group provided acoustics, noise control, sound and audiovisual systems design for the new, two-story classroom/office building.
